Artist Residency

The Residency for Contemplative Justice (RCJ) is dedicated to supporting artists who seek justice through creative practice, merging imagination with disciplined creative work in service of a more ethical and compassionate world.

We believe art, like contemplation, teaches us to pay attention. It invites us to look deeper, exploring both the wounds and the possibilities within our communities. From that deeper witnessing, acts of justice can emerge.  We do not seek a single definition of justice through art. Instead, we support space for artists to expand that definition and to challenge traditional cultural views. Together, we believe creative work can help cultivate the more compassionate world toward which justice calls us.

Through financial support, creative gallery space, and community of engagement, RCJ empowers artists to explore how artistic practice can become a force for renewal in the world.

The Residency for Contemplative Justice (RCJ) is dedicated to supporting artists who seek justice through creative practice, merging imagination with disciplined work in service of a more ethical and compassionate world.

We believe art, like contemplation, teaches us to pay attention. It invites us to look deeper, exploring both the wounds and the possibilities within our communities. From that deeper witnessing, acts of justice can emerge.  We do not have a singular definition of justice through art, nor do we have a specific means of achieving this. Instead, our goal is to find artists with clear visions of their own, and provide a worthy environment for them to expand that vision (and to challenge traditional cultural views).

By providing financial support, studio space, and gallery opportunity RCJ seeks to empower artists to explore how their creative practice can become a force for change in the world.
