Since 1998, we have been engaged in a wonderfully symbiotic relationship with the community of San Eduardo, Ecuador. In 1999 the CCJ opened a school, Escuela Anne Stevens, named after the Rev. Becca Stevens’s mother and former Executive Director of St. Luke’s Community House, in the small town of San Eduardo. Since then, we have financed the operations of the school through donations and sponsorships. The CCJ sponsors a group each spring to help with capital improvement projects, and to operate a medical clinic for those in San Eduardo and the surrounding communities.

In 2013, we founded Sibimbe, a women's sewing cooperative whose hand-sewn goods are sold through the Thistle Farms Global program, providing jobs for five local women from the town. A new building to house the cooperative and to provide new learning spaces for the school was completed in early March 2014.

Donations for the Medical Clinic

Medical Clinic

While we work with area hospitals and other Nashville nonprofits like Project Cure to supply the medicine needed for the three day medical clinic, each year the CCJ relies on donations from you to supply some of our smaller but necessary items. Donations of items like toothbrushes, reading glasses (especially 2.25, 3.00, and 3.5), safety glasses and sunglasses (adult and children’s) are always needed. For the wellness portion of the clinic, we need infant & toddler supplies: sippy cups, bulb aspirators, toddler spoons and forks, bottles, bottle brush cleaners, baby tooth and gum cleanser, diaper rash cream, and saline drops (e.g., Little Noses).
